ALA South Central

Tuesday 11 June 2019

The ALA South Central Group are pleased to invite you to its Summer Estate Tour of The Grange, Northington, Hampshire, SO24 9TG on Tuesday, 11 June 2019.

The Estate has had a colourful history and now is in a phase of multiple diversifications which you will hear about during the afternoon: the opera festival, vineyard and re building of the dilapidated model farm are some examples.

The Grange and its Park have a history stretching back several hundred years – encompassing a royal tenant, a succession of banking families and requisition during the 2nd World War. After the house remained vacant and deteriorating post being re-acquisitioned by the Barings it was taken into the guardianship of the Department of the Environment (now English Heritage) in the 1970’s, in view of its architectural significance. The freehold remains with the Baring family and a 570 seat auditorium was built in 2001.

Please note that numbers are limited to 40 attendees.  Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
