The ALA Central England Committee are challenging you to try walking in someone else’s wellington boots at our re-launch breakfast meeting on Thursday 26 November 2026.

You are invited to arrive at Shaw Gibbs Northampton Office at 8 am for Breakfast Baps followed by a lively discussion between 8.30 and 9.30am

Penny White (ALA Central England Vice Chair) of Shaw Gibbs will present a brief post-budget tax update on points relevant to the agricultural industry.

We will then host two short case study discussions, one focused on IHT/tax planning and the other on farm diversification. In the case study discussions, you will work in small groups and be asked to contribute to the group “standing in the shoes” (boots!) of a different professional. For example, if you are an accountant, you may be asked to think like a land agent and contribute to your group discussion in that mindset.

The intention is for the discussions to be light but illuminating as we all learn what other professionals may think our profession will say about the scenario in front of us. We hope this facilitates a fun way to make new connections and cement existing ones.

The committee, together with HCR Law private client partner Antonia Lomax, will facilitate a room-wide feedback session to draw the meeting to a close.

Membership is not a requirement for attendance. We would love to see as many of you there as possible. Please book early as event capacity is limited.

Cost:  £15 (incl. VAT); Students free of charge

Please email enquiries@ala.org.uk at the time of booking to confirm any specific dietary requirements.
