ALA/UKELA Wales – Sustainable Land & Water Management in Wales

Monday 24 May 2021

Joint ALA & UKELA Wales webinar focussed on the sustainable management of land and water management

Chaired by Dr. Victoria Jenkins, Associate Professor of Law at Swansea University, our speakers will consider the issues and opportunities that arise from developing sustainable land and water management practices in Wales.

Our speakers are:

Geraint Davies, Farmer, Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. Geraint is an advocate for producing sustainable food whilst delivering environmental products. His land management experience encompasses upland habitat management including upland water retention, ancient woodland, soil health and effective grassland management. Geraint is also a Board Member of Natural Resources Wales.

Dr. Jon Walker, Research Officer in the Department of Biosciences at Swansea University. Jon has a particular interest in peatland management including co-authorship of journal articles on ecosystem change in restored blanket peatlands and restoration of blanket peat moorland delays stormflow from hillslopes and reduces peak discharge.

David Ashford, Brecon Beacons Mega-Catchment Programme Manager, Welsh Water. David’s current role includes developing new partnerships to improve water quality and a range of other benefits across water catchments within the Brecon Beacons. He has previously held roles in Welsh Government on Land Use Policy and Glastir.
